Telefonica Mexico, which operates under the Movistar brand, has begun deploying Ericsson's Radio Dot System small cells to improve mobile broadband coverage in Mexico City, it disclosed in a press release. The Spanish-owned operator has contracted the Swedish vendor to install 1,080 Radio Dot Systems in facilities including office buildings, shopping centers and airports that are otherwise difficult to cover using existing networks, with project completion scheduled for end-2016. The small cell architecture supports both 4G LTE and 3G W-CDMA indoor coverage.
