Vero Internet to acquire Empire Telecom

Brazilian regional ISP Vero Internet, which operates in Minas Gerais, Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina and Parana, has agreed to acquire Empire Telecom, which has served residential and business users in twelve cities in western Santa Catarina and south-east Parana for more than 15 years. According to TeleSintese, Empire presides over a 100% fiber-optic network, which spans 500km and serves around 18,000 customers. The transaction is expected to conclude in the first half of 2021. Fabiano Ferreira, CEO of Vero Internet, commented: 'With this transaction, Vero will increase its customer base by 5%, reaching more than 371,000 subscribers. [We] will serve 105 cities and [the takeover will] further strengthen us in Parana and Santa Catarina. 2021 promises to be our best year in terms of growth and profitability.'
