A Chemiluminescence test is used to compare between the sensitivities of mouse splenocytes both from intact and leukemic (transplanted leukemia EL-4) animals to continuous-wave (CW) and pulsed (pulse repetition frequency 1-10 Hz, duty cycle 50% and 94%) laser light (He-Ne laser, λ = 632.8 nm, dose 5 x 10~3 J/m~2). CW radiation in these experimental conditions has practically no effect on the luminol-amplified Chemiluminescence of both types of splenocytes, whereas pulsed radiation has a week inhibiting effect on splenocytes from intact mice but inhibits markedly the Chemiluminescence of splenocytes from leukemic mice. The effect of pulsed radiation depends on the pulse repetition rate. The maximum effect is observed to occur at a frequency of 1 Hz and a duty cycle of 50%.
