ADB calls on Asia to consolidate FTAs

Asia needs to consolidate the many free trade agreements (FTAs) which have been reached in the region over the last decade, according to the authors of a book published by the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI) and Asian Development Bank (ADB). A study team found that 53% of the 841 firms surveyed in China, Japan, Korea, the Philippines, Thailand and Singapore either use, or plan to use, FTAs. Since 2000, Asia has seen a rapid increase in FTAs.
