Preparation and properties of spinel rich of magnesium and aluminium

摘要

The aim of our investigation is a further improvement of the MgAl_2O_4 properties by addition of Al_2O_3 or MgO respectively. In the material system MgAl_2O_4-Al_2O_3 and MgAl_2O_4-MgO two-phase structures and by solid Solutions single-phase spinels were evolved. The structure were formed from oxides and alkoxides By variation of the Al_2O_3/MgO ratios and of the sintering conditions (1500-1750 deg.C, 3 hours). From The resulting sintered compacts the mineralogical phase structure, the structural constitution as well As the mechanical properties like 4-point-bending-strength and fracture toughness were determined.
