The purpose of this work was to clear up the mechanism of interaction between lithium low radius ion and the zirconium dioxide. ZrO_2 Li_2O synthesis is a very exciting subject for the nuclear and electro- ceramic industry. This reaction would be used to control the ZrO_2 reactivity. Mixtures of molar ration 1:1 of ZrO_2 and Li_2CO_3 were calcinated at various temperatures in the range (700 deg.C-800 deg.C) for 15...240 minutes at each temperature. After heat treatment, the samples were analyzed by x-ray diffraction and transmission electron Microscopy.
