摘要

For obtaining a dense sample, SiC-AIN composition (80:20 wt)were sintered by hot-pressing at 1950.deg C under 40MPa for 30 min in Ar atmosphere. The size of SiC powder was 3.l3'mu m. The various size of AIN starting powders was 1.07, 1.47, 2.08, 3.21 and >5.90 mu m, respectively. The bending strength and fracture toughness of sintered SiC-AIN composites were measured.Then, the microstructure of the cracks, fracture surface were obseeved by EDAX and SEM. The importance of AIN had been proved in the SiC-AIN composite. In this study,effect of the change of AIN starting powder sizes on boundary would be explained in terms of reinforcing and toughening of SiC-AIN composites.
