摘要

Blood contact could alter the setting and the osteointegration ability of the calcium phosphate bone cements. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of blood contact on the setting of Bone Source. 32 mature rabbits were divided in 4 paired groups: A, B, C, D. Group A were operated without Tourniquet, while in Groups B, C and D ischemia at the right hind limb was obtained with a rubber Band. Through a lateral approach a 5 mm diameter hole was drilled in the lateral femoral condyles, and Bone Source was inserted into the holes. The tourniquet was removed 10 minutes after the bone Cement implantation in Group B, 30 minutes after in Group C, and 60 minutes after in Group D. In All The Groups, 4 rabbits were euthanized one day after surgery and the remaining 4 after six weeks. Histomorphometric analyses performed one day after surgery showed a gap of 150-300μm at the Bone Source interface in Group A. Gap size was smaller (50-200μm) in groups B, C, and D (p<0.05). Histomorphometric analyses performed six weeks after surgery showed excellent osteointegration. 80/100 of the surface of Bone Source was covered by adhering bone trabeculae in all the groups. This study shows that both blood contact and tourniquet time do not affect the setting of CPBC and its osteointegration ability
