摘要

process of the apatite formation on bioactive titanium metal prepared by NaOH and heat treatments in a simulated body fluid was investigated by transmission electron microscope attached with energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer. The bioactive titanium metal formed Ti-OH groups on its surface soon after the immersion into the simulated body fluid via ion exchange of the Na ions in the sodium titanate on its surface with the H_3O~+ ions in the fluid. The Ti-OH groups, immediately after their formation, combined with the calcium ions in the fluid to form an amorphous calcium titanate.
