The in-vivo bioactivity of Hydroxyapatite granules was enhanced by the Substitution of carbonate groups into the HA lattice. Both bone ingrowth and coverage were Significantly greater for CHA granules compared to HA granules. The larger sized granules (1-2mm) Showed greater bone ingrowth and coverage Compared to the smaller ones. These results Indicate that CHA granules are a promising Alternative to conventional hydroxyapatite Materials for biomedical applications.
