摘要

In the western zone of the Romania was studied 13 important clays deposits use in traditional ceramic industry. All 13 deposits are open quarries with easy access. This zone overlaps Pannonian Depression, major by geological age the clays classify in Jurassic Refractory clays and Upper Miocene-Lower Pliocene and Pleistocene clays. Mineralogical, the clays from Pannonnian Basin are illit-kaolinitic materials. Physical-ceramic Investigations of the many samples proved that the clays are generally sensible to drying and Possessed great plasticity (30-58/100) good contractions (6-21/100) and shaping, medium water Absorption (9-16/100) and very good mechanical resistance (325-335 daN/ cmp compressive Strength).
