Passementerie, or the art of decorated trims, has largely been overlooked in modern English-speaking weaving literature. The term itself covers a wide range of decorative effects, such as braids, cording, buttons, trim, fringe and tassels used for interiors and fashion. This book concentrates on simple warp-faced bands requiring just two shafts and starts with different methods of including pattern weft cords using plain and fancy methods to create a wide range of attractive braids suitable for many different decorative uses. Moving step-by-step from the introduction of one weft cord onto four cords with increasing levels of complexity, we are then taken to the higher level of two warp braids linked by pattern cording.
