This is definitely a 'tardis' exhibition. I walked into what appeared to be a relatively small one-room gallery, but the moment I started looking at the displays, the breadth and depth of the show began to unfold in front of me. An hour later, I was going back to look again at each item, still noticing details I had missed first time around. Category barriers were broken down, garments interspersed among woven hangings, sculptural pieces next to jewellery. Seeing one of Alison Ellen's inventively designed jackets hanging next to a bold geometric weaving by Deirdre Wood, you notice even more the shape and construction of the garment. But just in case you wondered if form might take precedence over function, a clothes rack of Ellen's garments hangs in the exhibition and visitors are invited to try them on. Nothing beats experiencing the feel and drape of them first hand.
