Given the complex chemistry of natural dyes, it is perhaps not surprising that simple generalisations cannot be derived from the results. For any given fibre and dyestuff this very brief overview, detailing a very small group of commonly available natural dyestuffs, gives an indication of which method may give the most suitable colour for a project, but very much will depend on the exact details of the method adopted, the quality of the dyestuffs and water used, etc.
