Extensive Isomerization of Alkenes Using a Bifunctional Catalyst: An Alkene Zipper

Catalyst 2 is unusual in its activity (in many cases 2-5 mol % is sufficient), selectivity, and unprecedented ability to move unhindered double bonds over many positions. Ongoing studies are designed to elucidate further the mechanism of action and the capabilities of this bifunctional catalyst design, and these will be reported in due course.
