Mike Grover

Mike Grover, the founding publisher of the Journal of Sustainable Tourism, and one of the leading publishers of books and journals about contemporary tourism, died of pancreatic cancer after a relatively short illness. He was 67. Mike floated the idea of a tourism journal that would break new ground in the subject in 1991. He launched the Journal of Sustainable Tourism (JOST) in 1993. New journals can be very risky ventures, taking many years before they secure library orders and attract good papers. His risk-taking with JOST paid off. It was the first of his many tourism publishing ventures.
