Kopp and Morrison have raised important issues concerning the results of our paper. Their discussion exemplifies how healthy debate within a discipline can advance knowledge. The writers of the original paper are grateful for the opportunity to discuss some of the ramifications of the paper's results. The primary issue raised in the discussion is that our results, specifically some large values of peak uplift coefficients C_F, imply that the wind loads required to fail a given roof in a tornado are lower than those required to fail a roof in ABL flow and more specifically, that this contrasts with common knowledge about structural behavior in storms. This issue merits deep consideration because, as Kopp and Morrison point out, we do not observe low-rise buildings failing at 60% of their design wind speed.
