According to Stolen et al., new gas analysers (~500 g) should allow accurate measurement of VO^sub 2^, but to our knowledge at present no such study has been performed.4 We measured VO^sub 2^ of two healthy midfield amateur soccer players (24 and 25 years, 179 and 178 cm, 77 and 69 kg) with a portable gas analyser (Cosmed K4, 800 g) each during one half.
