The Proactive Personality Disposition and Entrepreneurial Behavior among Small Company Presidents

Using a sample of 215 small company presidents, this study examined the rela- tionship of the president's proactivity dis- positions to his/her entrepreneurial behav- ior. Entrepreneurial behavior was mea- sured in terms of starting versus not start- ing the business, the number of startups, and the types of ownership (start, pur- chase, inherit). The relationships of pos- activity to the firm's entrepreneurial pos- ture, its performance, and the extent of the president's delegation of authority were also examined.
