Water Sorption Dynamics of Hydrophobic, Ionizable Copolymer Gels

摘要

The synthesis of a polyelectrolyte hydrogen comprising of hydrophilic and hydrophobic domains is reported using copolymerizing acrylic acid (AA) and styrene (S) in the presence of polyethyleneglycol (PEG) as a supporting polymer and N, N'-mehylene bisacrylamide (MBA) as crosslinking agent. Effects of composition of the hydrogel, pH of the bathing medium, Temperature of the external solution and the presence of electrolytes in the outer medium investigated on the swelling kinetics of The hydrogel are reported. The hydrogels synthesized have been found to exhibit good antithrombogenic property.
