摘要

This project aims at using ethanol as an alternate fuel for Direct Injection Compression Ignition engine and blending it with some lubricating oils to increase the lubricating property of ethanol. This replacement of conventional Diesel with cthanol requires some of the properties of ethanol to be altered. The corrosive nature of ethanol is very high that it may corrode the fuel pump system. In order to increase the lubricating property of ethanol, it is blended with some of the lubricating oils. Some of the preferred lubricating oils are methyl esters of Jatropha oil, Pongamia oil etc. Ethanol is blended with these lubricating oils to reduce the corrosive property of Ethanol. The blended ethanol lubricating oil homogenous mixture's properties are compared with conventional diesel. The different fuel blends are used in the direct injection CI engine, the performance and emission characteristics are calculated and they are compared with diesel and a perfect blend is analysed.
