Personality characteristics and traffic accidents of college students

摘要

The purpose of this study was to examined the relationship between three personality variables(risk seeking, chronic self-destructiveness, and self-es- teem)and traffic accidents and citations. Seventy-six students at a small mid- western university participated in this research. A negative relationship was found between self-esteem and actual accidents. The relationship of acci- dents to risk seeking and to chronic self-destructiveness failed to reach sig- nificance. In addition, a relationship between citations and chronic self-de- structiveness that approached significance was found.
