This article analyzes a concept that has become central to L.I. Bo-zhovich's theory of personality. Three aspects of internal position are identified (affective, motivational, and reflective), the methodological and general psychological significance of this concept is explained, and contemporary research into the internal position of school-aged children is summarized, including research conducted under the direction of the author. The possibilities afforded by further study of internal position during ontogeny are noted.
