Earlier in 2011 students of ancient near eastern history welcomed the first volume to be published in the new Royal Inscriptions of the Neo-Assyrian Period series, Erie Leichty's edition of the inscriptions of Esarhaddon. This event marked the rebirth of the great project of producing modern editions of the Assyrian Royal inscriptions, an undertaking now directed from Philadelphia by Grant Frame in succession to the earlier project directed by Kirk Grayson in Toronto.
