Anomalous products from intramolecular insertion reactions of rhodium carbenoids into the α-C-H bonds of ethers

Intramolecular C-H insertion reactions of metal car- benoids are well known and have been widely used for the stereoselective construction of cyclopentanones, γ-lac- tones, and lactams. The development of asymmetric variants of these reactions by Doyle and others has further extended their scope.
