摘要

Membrane circular hollow fibers were reviewed based on membrane surface area to volume ratio as well as how the circular hollow fibers are packed. Alternative fiber shapes are discussed in comparison to circular fibers. These fiber shapes have the propensity to increase filter capacity compared to current circular membrane fibers on the market using the same footprint. Membrane manufacturers and engineers are encouraged to explore the filter fiber shapes proposed to reduce the cost to implement membrane filtration.
