摘要

Recently, biometrics has emerged as a promising research area for personal identification and authentication. Biometrics systems use biological or behavioral traits such as face, fingerprint, iris, hand-geometry, palm-print, gait, voice, etc.; to establish an individual's identity. Although many biometric-based applications have been found in our daily lives, its universal usability rate is still far behind its deserved potential. One of the major impediments is that many technological challenges are unresolved so far and a lot of research questions are still unsolved.
