摘要

Several typical compounds were tested as the promoters in the catalyst system for methanol carbonylation to methyl formate in the temperature range of 60~90 deg. C and pressure range of 3.0~6.0 MPa in a mechanically agitated reactor. It has been found that the basicity of an effective promoter is not important and the polarity plays a determinant role in methanol carbonylation. Strong polar aprotogenic compounds have been proved to be good promoters for the reaction.
