A researcher with a keen interest in diaspora, homeland, ethnicity, religious identity, nationalism and culture, Eisenlohr turns here to the Hindu Mauritians. His book is original and perceptive, dealing with issues that have not received sufficient scholarly attention. The title, however, is somewhat misleading, as it suggests that Mauritius is a miniature version of India - which it definitely is not.
