Identity in question

摘要

Understandings of identity in social theory and cultural analysis have undergone significant changes in the wake of globalisation, post-modernism and social uncertainty. The editors of this book aim to provide a detailed study of these changes, an ambitious goal and one that is reached to some extent. Divided loosely according to the themes of post-modernism, individualisation and psychoanalysis, the book includes some incisive analyses and touches on such topics as globalisation, post/feminism, community activism, inter-subjectivity and melancholia. Overall, I find that it has much to recommend it, containing work by several noted theorists of identity.
