I appreciate this opportunity to respond to 'Constructing the "Other": Construction of Russian Identity in the Discourse of James Bond Films' (Lawless, 2014), a contribution that I think makes headway into research on discourse analysis, race and ethnicity, cinema studies, and especially stereotypical media representations of Russia and Russians. I am pleased that scholars, such as this author, are embarking on this research topic, and extending critical discourse analysis into the realms of film studies and ethnic stereotyping; I hope future scholars will follow this lead and make similar inroads into the subject.
