Preface: 2007 Semiconducting and Insulating Materials Conference: Selection of papers at SIMC-XIV

This volume contains a selection of papers presented at the 14th International Semiconducting and Insulating Materials Conference (SIMC-XIV), held at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, Arkansas, USA, from May 15 to 20, 2007. SIMC-XIV is the latest in a biennial conference series, initiated in 1980 in Nottingham, UK. This conference has a long history of providing a home for exciting research in semiconducting and insulating materials. While the theme of the SIMC has evolved over its 28 year history, one feature has not changed: SIMC is a premier conference series that builds bridges between people pursuing materials research and applications.
