In this work, we report the preparation of dendrite-shaped CuCr_2O_4 photocatalyst by an anionic surfactant sodium dodecyl sulphate-mediated co-precipitation method by using [Cu(en)_2(H_2O)_2]Cl_2 and [Cr(en)_3]Cl_3-3H_2O as suitable precursors. The photocatalyst was characterized by Fourier transform infrared, X-ray powder diffraction, field emission scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive spectroscopy, and UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. The catalytic activity of dendrite CuCr_2O_4 was evaluated by the photodegradation of Acid Violet 7, Acid Blue 113, and Acid Brown 214. The results revealed that the photocatalytic activity of dendrite-shaped CuCr_2O_4 was much higher than that of other morphology under UV and Vis irradiation. Our results provide some new insights on the performance of solar active photocat-alysts on water treatment of textile and dyeing wastewater.
