摘要

Y_2O_3:(Yb~(3+), Er~(3+)) powders were synthesized by a simple solid state process. The powders were characterized by X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and laser excited spectroscopy. The formation of Y_2O_3:(Yb~(3+), Er~(3+)) samples was confirmed by X-ray diffraction and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The up-conversion emissions of Y_2O_3:(Yb~(3+), Er~(3+)) samples were observed under 978 nm laser excitation. The energy transfer from Yb~(3+) ions to Er~(3+) ions plays an important role in the increase of intensity of up-conversion emissions. The energy transfer between Yb~(3+) and Er~(3+) ions and related emissions were elaborated. The effects of dopant Yb~(3+) concentration and pumping power on up-conversion emissions were studied. The intensity ratios of the red to green emission increase with the increasing concentration of Yb~(3+) ions. Also, the intensities of green and red up-conversion emissions increase with the increasing pumping power.
