摘要

The title compound 2-amino 5-bromopyridinium 4-carboxybutanoate (2A5BPC), has been synthesized and optical quality single crystals of 2A5BPC were grown by solution growth technique. This crystal belongs to orthorhombic system with a noncentrosymmetric space group of P2_12_12_1. Its structure and compositions were confirmed by X-ray diffraction(single and powder) and microanalysis studies. The thermal stability and decomposition behaviour of 2A5BPC were investigated by simultaneous TG/DTA and DSC analysis. The temperature dependence of heat capacity of 2A5BPC was calculated by modulated DSC analysis. The thermal diffusivity, thermal conductivity, and specific heat capacity of the grown crystals, which are the three most important thermo-physical parameters in heat transfer calculations, were calculated by an improved photopyroelectric technique. The frequency conversion efficiency, dielectric behaviour, mechanical strength and optical strength of 2A5BPC were investigated through Kurtz and Perry technique, dielectric studies, Vickers microhardness tests and laser damage profile, respectively. Spectroscopic studies revealed the vibrational modes, optical transmittance in UV-Visible region, and luminscence behaviour of 2A5BPC.
