Wächst zusammen, was zusammen gehört? Wissenschaftliche Musikergesamtausgaben und Bibliotheken

Seit gut 150 Jahren arbeiten wissenschaftliche Musikeditionen mit ähnlichen Methoden, nur der Zugriff auf die Quellen wurde stets einfacher. Digitale Editionen beziehen Quellenfaksimiles in umfassenderweise ein und überbrücken dabei die Kluft zwischen Forschung und Nutzung, wobei das Potential digitaler Medien erst deutlich wird, wenn künftig Bildinhalte in codierter Form erfasst und standardisiert dargestellt werden können: Die in den Formaten XML bzw. MEI vorgelegten Ergebnisse sind mit biblio-thekarischen Metadaten kombinierbar und müssen als offenes Ausgangsmaterial weiterer Forschungen langfristig verfügbar gehalten werden. Somit verschwimmen die Grenzen zwischen den Aufgaben von Forschung und Bibliothek. Illustriert und dis-kutiert werden Probleme und Folgen dieser sich abzeichnenden Veränderungen, die letztlich auch zu einer Neudefinition dessen führen dürften, was mit »Musikedition« gemeint ist. For the past 150 years scholarly music editions have made use of similar techniques, but the accessibility of sources has continu-ally become easier. Digital editions make thorough use of facsimi-les and, hence, bridge the gap between researcher and user. But the capabilities of digital media will only be realized when, in the future, images can be encoded and made available in stand-ardized formats. The results of scholarly work presented in the formats of XML or MEI can be combined with bibliographic meta-data and need to be made openly accessible over the long-term as base data for ongoing research. As a consequence, however, the boundaries between the tasks of research and library con-servation become blurred.
