HISTORICAL OUTLINE OF SPACE STRUCTURES IN JAPAN

The building industry naturally refrects in social and economic trends of the time. Public buildings for athletic and other events, particularly large-scale space structures, have greatly been influenced by economic trends of the time. The Japan's economy was a disaster at the end of World War II — the industrial production was 1/10 of prewar standard. However, the mining and manufacturing industrial production exceeded the highest prewar standard in the middle of 1950s, and the economy began its remarkable recovery.
