A method of shaping complex shell forms is proposed. Folded steel sheets are connected along the edges and transformed from flat into spatial shapes to obtain a complete shell structure. Because they are folded in only one direction, straightness of the neutral axes is maintained during the transformation. The work of folding is minimized due to existence of relevant degrees of freedom. If the freedom of width increments is provided for each fold during assembling into shell directrices, then the folding is transformed freely and its shape is characterized by a contraction at half fold's length and an extension at its both crosswise borders. In spite of the above significant restrictions, the method enables shaping many attractive and diversified complex shell forms because mutual positions and curvatures of the skew directrices can differ from each other. Following the method, many individual shells, whose shapes are close to each other, can be arranged regularly in three dimensional space to obtain an attractive composite shell roof. Thus sets of these individual shells can create compound folded walls and curved roofs integrated with an initially assumed regular surface.
