摘要

The ASME 2010 conference on Smart Materials, Adaptive Structures and Intelligent Systems (SMASIS) was held from September 28 through October 1 in beautiful Philadelphia. Adaptive Structures and Systems by definition are intelligent, flexible systems that respond to changes in the environment. Recent rapid development and technological maturity is mainly due to the interdisciplinary efforts at universities, government, and industry. The main goal of SMASIS is to assemble world experts across engineering and scientific disciplines such as mechanical, aerospace, electrical, materials, and civil engineering, as well as biology, physics, and chemistry, to discuss the latest findings and trends in the field.
