Fibre to the Cabinet (FTTC) architectures carry broadband data over newly installed optical fibre as far as the first primary cross connect point or street cabinet with subsequent transport continuing over the existing twisted metallic (normally copper) pair cables between the cabinet and the customer using Very high rate Digital Subscriber Loop (VDSL) technology.
