摘要

Variability of ultimate strength of concrete members is caused by variability of concrete and steel strengths and by variability of the cross sectional dimensions of concrete and steel. Considering these variables, probabilistic analysis of the ultimate moment of doubly reinforced concrete beams is performed using the Monte-Carlo simulation technique. Based on the distributions of variables considered in this study, the ultimate moment is found to follow a normal distribution. The effect of concrete and steel strengths and amount of steel on the statistical parameters (mean and coefficient of variation) of the ultimate moment and the ductile behaviour of beams is studied. The study shows that good concrete quality (characteristic strength) and using compression reinforcements are essential to ensure ductile behaviour of beams and emphasizes the importance of limiting the maximum reinforcement ratio.
