摘要

This work aims to improve the dyeing characteristics of blended wool/polyester fabric (65/35) using physical treatment. This fabric is treated with uv/ozone for different periods (1,3,5,10,20 and 60 minutes) and Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectra are measured. The results indicated that, the behaviour of the change in the peak intensity values of different functional groups of the blend during the different treatment times are completely different from the change of their corresponding present in each fabric separately. The dyeing characteristics of the treated fabrics are studied using different dye classes as an applied part to evaluate the efficiency of such treatment. The dyeability of different dye classes is greatly improved and followed the order: reactive dye (approx= 400%) > fluorescent acid (approx= 200 %) > direct orange (approx= 166 %) > disperse yellow 55%. Also, the light fastness grades are raised and ranging from 6:7 at the end of the treatment time, for all dye classes under test. The amount of the faded dye was estimated spectrophotometerically using CIELAB system through measuring colour difference (AE), and the following order was observed: reactive dye < direct < acid < disperse.
