Visitors Encounter Ubiquitous Community at CEATEC Japan

Under the theme, "Ubiquitous Community, Forward to the Next Stage!," Asia's largest information, communication and imaging exhibition, CEATEC Japan 2003, was held from October 7-11 at Makuhari Messe (Nippon Convention Center) in Chiba Prefecture, Japan. A total of 667 companies and organizations, including 193 exhibitors from 17 countries and regions outside Japan, took part in the event. Japan's new technologies and products, including digital home electric and electronic appliances and multifunctional mobile phones, as well as electronic components and devices are key products for creating new demand and fueling an economic upturn. In this sense, this year's exhibits attracted more attention from outside Japan than ever before. During the event, a total of 22 keynote speeches were given, including one entitled "Launching a Unique Ubiquitous Society from Japan" by Hajime Sasaki, chairman of NEC Corp.
