Matsushita Keeps Focus on Making Camcorders Smaller, Easier To Use

Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd., manufacturer of Panasonic brand consumer electronics, plans to bring out a new series of digital camcorders that will be especially compact, lightweight and easy to use. The company will introduce these models gradually to markets around the world starting this spring. In FY2002, Matsushita introduced strategic models in the industry's smallest and lightest class to the medium-price-range market. This move dramatically expanded the company's share of the global digital camcorder market. Matsushita is preparing to bring out even smaller products with enhanced operability in FY2003. At the same time, the company has extended this design concept to high-end products models equipped with three-CCD image sensors, and to entry-level models in the lower-price range.
