2004 Will be a Pivotal Year for the Future of the Data Projector Market

Along with improved performance and usability, data projectors are smaller and more affordable. Demand for data projectors has expanded at an annual rate of 20 to 30 percent globally. With the appearance in 2003 of projectors priced less than $1,000, prices have fallen at an annual rate of 15 to 30 percent. Fuji Chimera Research Institute, Inc., a.re-search company, estimated worldwide demand for data projectors in 2003 increased 30.3 percent from 2002 to 2.15 million units. LCD projectors accounted for an estimated 1.55 million units, or 72 percent of the total while digital light processing (DLP) projectors accounted for 28 percent. Fuji Chimera forecast worldwide demand in 2004 will increase 25.6 percent to 2.7 million units.
