Digital Broadcasts Should Stoke Demand for Digital A/V Products

Around the world, demand is growing for such digital audio-video (A/V) products as LCD TVs, plasma display panel (PDP) TVs, DVD recorders and digital cameras. Parallel to this trend is the appearance of more advanced and extensive networks for A/V appliances and information technology equipment. An example of this trend is the emerging use of mobile phones and Internet connections to program DVD recorders. Activities of many kinds are taking place related to the development of network technologies and of such network-related standards as Universal Plug and Play (UPnP). LSIs at the heart of these technologies are products of nano-technology. Software development is now the key to the success of digital A/V appliances. Meanwhile, manufacturers are increasingly determined to bring out products in all global markets simultaneously, a practice that has required them to modify production and marketing operations.
