Sharp Extends Lineup of Full- Specification HD LCD TVs

Sharp Corp. in October released two new Aquos LCD TVs One is a 37V-inch full-specification high-definition (HD) TV. The other is a 57V-inch full-specification high-definition HD TV. These models extend Sharp's lineup of full-specification HD LCD TVs to five models. The 37V-inch and 57V-inch models join a 65V-inch model and two 45V-inch models on the market. Sharp's expanded lineup of full-specification HD LCD TVs comes as the popularity of terrestrial digital broadcasting gains momentum. Forecasters say digital terrestrial broadcasting services will reach more than half of Japanese households by the end of 2005. Meanwhile, large-screen TVs are selling fast. The company aims to secure more than 25 percent of the global market for flat TVs by the end of FY2005.
