Moves to adopt digital and high-definition broadcast formats are gaining momentum in Europe. In 2004, Euro 1080 initiated Europe's first full-resolution, commercial services on the HD1 satellite system. As Sky, TF1/TPS, Canal; and Premier prepare to offer high-definition (HD) satellite TV transmission services, content creators are building up libraries of HD content for broadcasting. Echoing these trends, the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) focused on "Content, Management and Delivery" as its main theme for IBC 2005. One of the largest broadcasting trade shows, IBC 2005 ran from Sept. 9 to 13 at the Amsterdam RAI exhibition and convention center in the Netherlands.
