The market for large LCD panels may have at last reached a turning point with significant demand now emerging. That's the impression from exhibitors at SID International Symposium 2005 (SID 2005), the display industry trade show that took place in May in Boston, Massachusetts, in the United States. SID 2005 offered seminars, symposia and exhibitions related to electronic display technologies and industry trends. Some 6,000 people participated. The market for large LCD panels is related mainly to demand for three products. These are notebook computers, computer monitors and flat-panel TVs. Demand for notebook com- puters and computer monitors together comes to about 100 million units per year.
