Flat-Panel TVs Make Home Theaters More Popular, Easier to Install

Several developments are set to change the home theater market. Conventional home theaters using large-screen rear-projection TVs and front projectors are designed mainly for use in relatively large spaces. The growing popularity of flat panel TV sets, however, is bringing home theater systems to ordinary homes, enabling consumers, even those with limited spaces, to experience home theater viewing. Home theater systems configured to use rear-projection TVs and front projectors are mainly sold through customized installers who usually are equipped with the necessary installation techniques, including home decor capabilities. On the other hand, home theater systems that use flat-panel TVs can be sold and installed by general audio-video specialty stores and mass merchandisers of home electric appliances.
